the WEYR
Annul - verb - to make or declare invalid, void
That's what happened to the Golds and Bronzes nearly 200 Turns ago. They shrank while the Greens and Blues grew. Now the Greens clutch and the Blues chase. Only fourteen Turns ago, when the world thought Thread no longer fell, the Red Star surprised the Weyr and fell with unforgiving relentness. Now the dragons aim to fight back.

White and Orange dragons only mate with each other. The only way a White and Orange can mate is if an Orange chases a White or if a White chases an Orange. There can never be Orange X Orange or White X White. The highest colors that the dragons can produce are Bronzes, though the colors would be incredibly smaller than if a Green were to clutch them. The dragon color that clutched the eggs would also show up more than the dragon color that did not. (Example: More Oranges hatched than Whites because Orange Anaranjath was caught by White Ivorith.) Since both dragon colors have no genders it does not matter what color flies and what color chases. Other colors can chase, too, but only these two colors can produce eggs.

Green By far the largest dragons, the Greens are the highest ranking dragons in Annul Weyr. The greens tend to range from a dark, forest green to a light, lime green. There can be any colors in-between, also. The wing membranes of the Greens are usually lighter than the Green’s main coloring, but on rare occasions a Green has a darker wing-membrane color than her main color. Green dragon’s personalities have changed with their height. Where they were once flirty they are now the most motherly. They are very loyal to their rider and the other dragons. They do not ever attack another dragon except when two are Flying at the same time, and even then it is rare. Green dragons are the only dragons who can lead in Annul Weyr. Females and Impress to Heterosexual Females
Purple Coming in close second by way of size, the Purple dragons are the highest ranking color of the new colors for Pern. Being only female, this is also the second-ranking female dragon. Though a Purple cannot lead a Weyr, she can still Clutch. The clutches are smaller than the clutches a Green may have, at most only 20 eggs. Purple dragons have a wide variety of colors, the lightest being a shade of purple that looks like pink and the darkest being a shade that looks almost black. They have a strange characteristic to them, on their nose there is a dark purple stripe and on there wings can be found more of those same stripes. The wing-stripes tell how old the dragon is, so, for example, if there are four wing-stripes the dragon is four Turns old. Purple dragons are sort of dreamy dragons. They are always in their own wonderland. Because of this it takes a rider with a lot of patience, because these dragons tend not to listen. Females and Impress to Bisexual or Heterosexual Females
Blue The only true males of the high ranking colors, Blues used to be the second-smallest dragons. Now they are the third-largest dragons. They may chase any dragon they see fit to chase. Blues tend to range from a light baby blue to a dark stormy blue. Their hides may be mixed with other colors such as green, but no matter how many colors show up in their hides there is never any orange or purple. Blues tend to be very careful dragons, like they still aren’t sure what to do with all the power they have. Though their real personalities range, they always have to love water. They can swim all day every day without tiring. Males and Impress to Heterosexual Males
Pink Pink dragons are the only high-ranking dragons that can be both male and female. These dragons are actually smaller than Browns, but since the females clutch the Weyr decided to count them as high-ranking dragons. The amount of eggs they can clutch only amounts to five, and even then there can be no Greens or Purples. The most common colors from them are Gold and Brown. Pink dragons are peculiar, not just because the females are larger than the males, but because of their coloring. They were named Pink just because the first dragon of that color was pink. In actuality, Pink dragons can range from a dark red to a light, baby pink. All Pinks have two lines running across both front legs. These markings can be lighter or darker than the actual coloring of the Pink. Pink dragons are the lovers of the draconic world. They fly much more often than any of the other colors, sometimes right after a clutch is laid. They are sometimes too caught up in their lust that they won’t remember what they’re doing. Either gender and Impresses to the same gendered heterosexual or bisexual
the MIDDLE RANKS « Reply #2 on Jul 21, 2008, 8:17pm »
Still the middle-man, Browns are the most steadfast, but laid back, dragons you’ll find. They have no set personality range; instead they can be any personality. Since they are the middle-men, Browns can Fly any color, even an occasional Green. Browns can range from light brown to dark brown. Their wing membranes are normally lighter than their coloring, but on rare occasions the wing membranes may be darker. Browns are the colors that usually last the longest during Threadfall. Males and Impress to any male, and the occasional homosexual female
Black Ornery and detestable, Blacks are the exact opposite of the Silvers. It is rare to find a Black in a good mood, and even rarer to see a Black that is actually expressing any feeling of happiness. Blacks range anywhere from a light gray to a jet black. They always have strange markings on their hind legs and upper muzzles. Female Blacks never clutch. It seems that whatever gender a Black is, if there is a Silver clutch sibling that Silver is the opposite gender. Either gender and tends to Impress to people of any gender that have personalities opposite them
Silver Considered to be lucky, the Silver dragons can only be hatched from eggs that contain Blacks. This was an anomaly in their genes that caused them to be dependent of their Black clutch siblings. Every Silver hatches with a Black, but not all Blacks hatch with a Silver. Silver’s hides carry a sheen that can be seen only in the sun. Without that sheen they could be called really light-colored Blacks. Silvers tend to be happy-go-lucky. They also tend to be lucky, and since they are rare, people see them as a sign of luck. Female Silvers do not clutch. Either gender and Impresses to the same or opposite gendered heterosexual or bisexual

Bronze Once the highest ranking males of the draconic species, now the Bronzes are the lowest males. Nevertheless, these males keep their heads about them. Bronzes, at the very least, can be called overly brave, and at the most, can be called stupid. They love to take on tasks that are meant for bigger dragons, but Kitti Ping designed them that way, and those genes will never die out. Bronzes will willingly tell their riders what is wrong, and will not skip corners in doing so. Bronzes can come in any different shade of Bronze, and some have been seen to have colors of different hides in their hide such as blue or green. Males and Impress to either gender of any sexual tendency
Gold Once in the past the Gold dragons were the largest dragons every, with the largest being Ramoth, dragon of Lessa. Now, though, they are the smallest besides the Whites and the Oranges. Even if they are small, they still have that instinct to care about others. They can most often be seen near the Infirmary or in the Sands just watching the eggs. Their mothering instinct hasn’t disappeared. What makes these dragons the least liked dragons is the fact that they still, no matter how many mutations have occurred, cannot flame. Sometimes a Gold might act arrogant and try to boss people around, but that is just Kitti Ping’s genetics coming into play. Golds have gold skin with a Gold shine to match. The gold may be so light it can be called ‘white’ or so dark it’s almost brown. Females and Impress to either gender of any sexual tendencry, but prefers heterosexual
White The White dragons are the smartest dragons, and there is no competition. These dragons think all the time. It is common to have a dragon wake up its rider in the middle of the night to ask questions relating to butterflies and flapping their wings. Whites have pure white hides but darker wing membranes. On occasion a White may have a sheen of a different color on its hide. The ichor-veins always show through the White’s hide. Neither Gender and Impresses to any person of similar or opposite personalities. Never in between
Orange Orange dragons are the shiest of all of the dragons. They rarely stray far from their rider, and even then it’s because they are in the water or doing something they like with their rider’s eyes trained on them at all times. These dragons are like psychics, really. Some dragons can feel the emotions of the immediate dragons, some of them can feel the emotions of the immediate humans. Still others can predict what is happening in the future. Each Orange is different. Orange dragons have hides that range from a light, almost white orange to a dark, almost bloody orange. They have peculiar stripes on the front of their chests and two stripes on their tales. It is always two stripes. The wing membrane colors are the same as the stripes on their chests and tails. Neither Gender and Impress to any person of independent or caring personalities. Sometimes Impresses to own personality type
